On Great Eastern Highway, a house and garden decorated with sculptures and assemblages of salvaged items provides a bright and cheerful welcome at the western entry to Coolgardie.

Coolgardie once boasted 23 hotels – only the two below remained by 1965, and then in Novemvber of that year, the license of the Railway Hotel (on the right) was relinquished, leaving the Denver City Hotel (on the left) as the only hotel operating in Coolgardie. It didn’t look busy.
